-Previous week’s rankings in parenthesis;

Things Stabilizing at the Top. The Patriots remained at #1 this week after hanging on to defeat the Colts at home in yet another big test. Once again the two AFC East powers (Pats and Jets) and the two AFC North powers (Ravens and Steelers) made up the top 4. The top 9 spots in my rankings stayed exactly the same this week.

Things Stabilizing at the Bottom. Carolina held tight to 32nd this week, losing to the Ravens to fall to 1-9 on the year. The final spots in my rankings stayed exactly the same this week, with the Cardinals and Broncos each getting whipped to fall to 3-7.

Major Changes in Between. While the top 9 spots and the bottom 3 spots remained the same this week, there were changes in the 20 spots in between. There were more teams making significant moves up or down the rankings than usual this week. 4 teams climbed at least 4 spots in my rankings, with the Cowboys making the biggest jump. Since doing away with Wade Phillips the Boys have won back to back games with ease, and I moved them up 6 spots in my rankings this week from 29th to 23rd. Buffalo moved up 5 spots from 26th to 21st, while the Skins and Bears each moved up 4 spots from 20th and 21st to 16th and 17th respectively.

3 teams fell at least 5 spots in my rankings this week. The Vikings took the biggest tumble, dropping 7 spots from 19th to 26th following their pathetic effort against the Packers at home. The Lions lost 35-19 to the Cowboys, falling to 2-8 on the year, and I moved Detroit down 6 spots in the rankings from 18th to 24th. I had been sticking with the Lions because they had been so competitive, but they are now without Matt Stafford again, but at some point teams are what their record is. The Titans lost at home to the Skins and they lost Vince Young for the season. I moved Tennessee down 5 spots this week from 17th to 22nd.
