The College Football Blog: 2010 Season Résumé Rankings (After Week 12)

Season Résumé Rankings after Week 12

1. Auburn 11-0 (1st)
2. Oregon 10-0 (2nd)
3. TCU 11-0 (3rd)
4. Boise State 10-0 (4th)
5. Ohio State 10-1 (6th)
6. Oklahoma State 10-1 (5th)
7. Stanford 10-1 (8th)
8. LSU 10-1 (7th)
9. Michigan State 10-1 (9th)
10. Wisconsin 10-1 (10th)

Out: None.

Explanation: Once again the same 10 teams make up these rankings. There are now only 10 teams left with less than 2 losses. It’s possible (perhaps even probable) that there will still be 10 different teams with 1 or fewer losses heading into bowl season.

Last week the top 3 teams in the rankings were off, and thus they stayed in the same spot. Boise State annihilated Fresno State, but the Broncos remained at #4, as they had only played 9 games going into last week.

Ohio State and Oklahoma State switched places this week, with the Buckeyes going up a spot from 6th to 5th and the Cowboys dropping a spot from 5th to 6th. Okie State is 5-0 on the road, but their best win is at home against A&M, while the Buckeyes now have a road win over Iowa. Also, Oklahoma State lost at home to Nebraska, while Ohio State’s loss was at Wisconsin.

Stanford and LSU also swapped places in this week’s rankings, with the Tigers falling a spot from 7th to 8th and the Indians going up a spot from 8th to 7th. Both teams have tough losses (Stanford lost at Oregon; LSU lost at Auburn). LSU has more solid wins and the Tigers have the best win out of the two (over Alabama). However, Stanford is now 5-1 on the road and 9-1 against BCS teams, while the Tigers are 2-1 on the road and 8-1 against BCS teams.

Michigan State and Wisconsin stayed at 9th and 10th respectively this week. These two teams have fairly equal resumes, but the deciding factor is MSU’s 10 point win over the Badgers on October 2nd.
