Power Rankings After Week 1

1. Dallas 1-0 (5th)
2. San Diego 0-1 (1st)
3. Philadelphia 1-0 (8th)
4. Pittsburgh 1-0 (11th)
5. Indianapolis 0-1 (3rd)
6. Jacksonville 0-1 (4th)
7. Green Bay 1-0 (7th)
8. New Orleans 1-0 (9th)

-Preseason ranking in parenthesis;

Out: New England (2nd); Minnesota (6th);

Explanation: Well, my power rankings got pretty much “blowed up” last weekend. My #1, #3, and #4 ranked teams all lost and my #2 ranked team lost their MVP QB. San Diego was my top team heading into the season but after they lost at home and then lost Shawn Merriman earlier today, I had to bump them down a space. I didn’t think they deserved to fall any further because they lost on a last second desperation TD pass that Jake Delhomme pulled out of his ass and would only have completed about 1 out of every 10 chances. New England was my #2 team going into the season but with the loss of Tommy I have to move them out of the top 8. The Colts embarrassed themselves at home against the Bears so I dropped them a couple of spots. Dallas rounded out my top 5 in the preseason and after the performances of the 4 teams above them combined with their blowout win of Cleveland I have to say that they look at this early date to be the best team in the NFL. Philly and Pittsburgh had blowout victories and moved into my top 4 after being ranked 8th and 11th respectively by me in the preseason. The Jags lost to the Titans so I dropped them a couple of spots. The winner of the Green Bay vs. Minnesota game was going to stay in the top 8 and the loser was bound to exit it, and thus the Vikes slipped out of the top 8. The Saints got a hard fought win over the Bucs to move into the final spot in my top 8.
