-Previous week’s ranking in parenthesis;

Out: West Virginia (6th).
Next Three In: Texas Tech, Alabama, Cal.

Explanation: Although Florida played a rivalry game against an improved Miami team and beat them soundly, I was quite unimpressed with the Gators’ offense. At this point I’m not sure whether they are as much better than they were last season as I previously thought, so I moved them out of the #1 spot. Oklahoma has been very impressive so far, USC was extremely impressive in their only game, and Georgia was very impressive this past Saturday so I moved them all up a spot and put Florida 4th. I moved Auburn and LSU up 2 slots with West Virginia losing and Ohio State looking awful without Beanie Wells. I put Ohio State 7th in front of Missouri and Texas because I’m not quite sure about the defenses of those other Big XII teams. Penn State was impressive again and thus I moved them up a couple of spots. I put ECU in the 11th spot because I think they must be pretty darn good to have beaten VT and WV but I’m not ready to say they would beat any of my top 10 teams on a neutral field. I moved South Florida back a spot because they had to go to OT beat Central Florida. At the same time, I was somewhat impressed that they were able to win a tough game in a hostile environment, and thus I kept them in my Power 12.
