The College Football Blog: 2011 Week 5 Betting Lines

Last Week’s Record

Biggest 10 Games (Straight Up: 7-3; Vs. Spread: 2-8)

Overall (Straight Up: 35-12; Vs. Spread: 15-31-1; Moneyline Upsets: 1-3)

Season Record

Biggest 10 Games (Straight Up: 24-16; Vs. Spread: 15-24-1)

Overall (Straight Up: 137-43; Vs. Spread: 82-89-2; Moneyline Upsets: 6-10)

Week 4 Review: A second straight awful week. 2-8 ATS in the biggest 10 games is embarrassing. And I’m not sure about this, but I can’t recall a week when I’ve been anywhere near as bad as 15-31-1 ATS overall. 16 games under .500 ATS? That’s a season wrecker.

Week 5 Preview: Well I’ve obviously lost some confidence but there’s no time to be timid. I’ve got a lot of ground to make up just to get back to .500. Meanwhile, this is actually an “under-the-radar” college football week. There are perhaps only 3 truly huge games, but there are plenty of meaningful matchups. There are actually 12 different in-state battles this week, as well as at least 4 other true rivalry games. Unfortunately, no time for comments this week, as the Braves’ collapse kept me totally occupied again this week.
