2. Oklahoma State 9-0 (2nd)

3. Stanford 9-0 (4th)

4. Boise State 8-0 (5th)

5. Oklahoma 8-1 (7th)

6. Alabama 8-1 (3rd)

7. Oregon 8-1 (9th)

8. Arkansas 8-1 (10th)

9. Houston 9-0 (6th)

10. Clemson 8-1 (8th)

Out: None.

Explanation: Once again there wasn’t quite as much movement in these rankings as I expected this week. Only the top 2 spots went unchanged this week, but surprisingly, nobody fell out of the top ten. For the first time this year we have an undefeated team ranked below a 1-loss team in these rankings.

Obviously LSU held onto the top spot after they won the big game against Bama. Oklahoma State’s victory over KSU was more nerve racking than expected but it was yet another solid win for the Cowboys’ résumé. Ok State hangs onto the #2 spot this week.

Spots #3 through #10 changed this week. Stanford and Boise State each moved up 1 spot this week to #3 and #4 respectively. Stanford got to 9-0 with an easy win over Oregon State, while the Broncos got an unimpressive blowout win over UNLV to get to 8-0.

3 teams moved up 2 spots this week. Oklahoma is the top ranked 1-loss team. The Sooners whipped Texas A&M and moved from #7 to #5. Oregon moved from #9 to #7 after getting a solid win over Washington. Arkansas won decisively over South Carolina to earn a much needed quality win. The Hogs jumped 2 spots to #8.

Alabama suffered their first loss this week, while Houston beat UAB by 43 points to remain undefeated, but both teams fell 3 spots in these rankings. Bama dropped from #3 to #6 despite the fact that they lost in overtime to the #1 team in these rankings. The Cougars are now 9-0 but they simply haven’t played anyone. Having no losses and blowing out most of their opponents keeps Houston in the top ten, but they fell 3 spots from #6 to #9. Obviously they are the lowest ranked undefeated team.

Clemson rounds out the top 10 this week. They were idle last week but they dropped 2 spots to #10 based on the performances of a couple of other teams.
