Comments: These will be my final resume rankings until after the bowls, as neither Navy nor Army is on the radar. These rankings are all about the results on the field and I ended up with the same 2 teams at the top as the BCS. There was not all that much change in the resume rankings this week, as all 10 teams remained in the top 10, and 5 of 10 stayed exactly in place. Bama and Texas each won conference championship games and stayed at #1 and #2 respectively. The change came at the #3 spot, as Florida got pounded by Bama for its first loss of the year. I dropped Florida below TCU (idle last week) and Cincinnati but not below Boise State, even though the Broncos crushed New Mexico State to finish 13-0. If you really look at the results, Boise State just didn’t play enough meaningful games to rank their season ahead of Florida’s. The Gators only loss was to the best team in the country and they have wins over 8 bowl teams (7 from major conferences). Boise State has only 5 wins over bowl teams and only 1 of those teams is from a major conference. So I moved the Gators 4 spots from 1st to 5th and kept Boise State ranked 6th. Also, I decided to keep TCU 4th and move Cinci up 2 spots from 5th to 3rd. The Bearcats barley stayed undefeated with a 1 point win over Pitt but they beat a good team on the road while the Horned Frogs were idle and it was enough to make their overall season a bit more impressive. Cincinnati beat 7 bowl teams; 6 from major conferences. TCU beat 6 bowl teams; only 1 from a major conference. While it can be argued that the MWC is at least as good as the Big East, I still think that Pitt and West Virginia are better than BYU and Utah, and I feel strongly that UConn, Rutgers, and South Florida are better than Air Force and Wyoming. As for the 2 loss teams, Oregon beat Oregon State at home and thus stayed in the #7 slot as the highest ranking 2 loss team. I kept Iowa at #8 but I moved Georgia Tech ahead of Ohio State to 9th after the Jackets beat Clemson for the second time this year. The Buckeyes stayed in the rankings at #10.
