Week 13 Review: Well, there was a little mental tradeoff taking place in my brain once the Dawgs finished off Tech early on Saturday. Sure, the rest of that day’s games were dull, non-competitive, routs by the favorites. But as long as I kept winning, it didn’t bother me too much if things went according to plan in a way we haven’t seen too often in CFB.

Week 14 Preview: There are just 22 games this week and of course none of them are against FCS teams. This year’s Championship Week feels a bit odd. I guess this is because the BCS national championship game matchup seems to be set regardless of what happens. And most of the games are expected (judging by the spreads at least) to be blowouts. This has been an interesting year but I think the downside of the total chaos in week 13 was that these last 2 weeks lost some excitement/meaning. One thing we know for sure. There will be nothing at all like general satisfaction when the national championship matchup is announced, regardless of what happens this weekend and who eventually gets in.

As for me, I’ve made some preverbal hay over the last couple of weeks and I’m a little nervous about the regression to the mean factor. One thing to note (and maybe this speaks to what I was saying about a lack of juice this week) is that we will be back to biggest 10 games this week. In the past I have sometimes had to go with more than 10 big games during Championship Week, but this year 10 is actually exactly the number it should be.
