The NFL Blog: 2010 Season Awards

2010 NFL Horse Collar Awards

These are my awards for the 2010 NFL season. There are some changes this year, but for the most part the structure of these awards is the same as last year. As usual I pick an offensive line for my All-Conference and All-Horse Collar teams rather than picking an individual player at each position. As always, I do take the postseason into account when selecting the awards because it’s just impossible to separate the regular season from the playoffs. This game is all about winning, and the biggest games are played in the postseason.

Last year my All-Horse Collar teams were based on who had the best season and who I thought was currently the best player at each position. This year I decided not to bring the whole “currently the best player at each position” thing into it.

I always like to add in a few “just for fun” awards. You may notice that some of these “other” awards are a bit more drawn out this year. One important note is that the “best game” award was totally screwed this year. There was at least one top-10 worthy game from every week of the season this year, so I ended up putting extra emphasis on the importance of each game. That was a good way to speed up the process of determining the list, but I wasn’t totally satisfied with the result.
